Depenalizing euthanasia in Luxembourg

The 19th of February this year was a very great day for the Luxembourg Right to Die in Dignity, ADMD-Lëtzebuerg, because we succeeded to have our euthanasia bill passed in the decisive first lecture and vote in parliament with 30 votes in favour, 26 against and 3 abstentions.

It was even an historical event in Luxembourg politics insofar that it was the first time in 23 years that the Christian-socialist party was in a minority.

Let me summarise the development of the palliative care- and the euthanasia-bills in Luxembourg : Our “Association pour le Droit de Mourir dans la Dignité” was founded by a medical doctor, Henri Clees, in 1988. He served as president until he died, 6 years ago.
